Sheridan Books was a PICE member before I joined their staff more than 10 years ago. The contacts, education and valuable information provided by the group has kept me a member ever since.

Two group conferences each year feature a wide variety of topics that range from the basics (The ABCs of Collection) through the more complex aspects of credit and collections (Anatomy of a Credit Department). Legal issues we routinely face, such as bankruptcy, are also included in the discussion.

The cost of the PICE membership is nominal compared to the money it saves us every week.

I access the PICE database for information on current or potential customers at least once a day. In addition, PICE flash reports (e-mail updates) keep me connected in real time to all members of the group. This greatly reduces the ability of a debtor to jump from vendor to vendor, leaving unpaid accounts in their wake. Being able to quickly obtain accurate, relevant information about customers and stay one step ahead of potential bad debt problems alone is worth the price of PICE membership.

PICE also creates a platform for getting to know and interact with other print industry credit professionals. This opportunity to network with members is invaluable. If I have a concern about a particular customer, I can do an inquiry to get information from the PICE database. I can also call a member who has had experience with the customer and speak with someone I have established a relationship with through conferences, webinars, and meetings. The exchange of this kind of information has resulted in my ability to continue to make well-informed credit decisions.
